In
the farm-fields of Bridgehampton in a small neighborhood
south of the highway we were hired to open up the
pool and give interest to the rear yard.
We created a pool garden adjacent to the pool deck.
By removing the rail along one side of the deck the
border garden became part the pool area.
Yews are backed
up by tree hydrangea. The 5' deep perennial border
actually jogs back just beyond this picture opening
up an even deeper lawn to the pool. The arbor in the
distance leads to the great lawn and meadow beyond
that.
This perennial boarder is traditional in that it is
composed of a consistent mix of colors blooming sequentially
all summer into september. Now the owners can have
parties spill onto the lawn and border gardens.
