In
the historic districts of Naassau County the homes are
often large and exquisitely crafted. However, they are
also very close together and the yards are quite small.
The only possible approach to design is to keep the
background palette as simple as possible in the screening
and create a clear series of rooms to make the property
feel as large as possible.
In the rear corner of a historic property we created
a "secret garden" behind a gentle koi pond.
The stepping stone path is laid through the dwarf conifers
and past the small rock water spills along the edge
of the pond. Ultimately you pass behind the pond to
a seat wall by the shade garden.
Large rhododendrons and perennials layer to the lawn
in the foreground of the garden pathway. |
